The youth are the future leaders who can start contributing today. Therefore, we are inviting you to participate in this Challenge.
Plastic pollution is a major environmental problem which requires thinking together and acting together. In every crisis there is an opportunity and therefore, we should ensure that when tourism restarts again after COVID-19, the sector is leading by example in the sustainable use of plastics. Restarting tourism responsibly requires that future operations be guided by a science-based approach to understand the environmental implications of hygiene and health protocols and integrate sustainability.
By participating in this Challenge, you will:
- Encourage tourism destinations (destination managers and policy makers) to take action on plastic pollution
- Work in a real case and expand your learning in sustainability from a practical perspective
- Get familiar with the common vision for a circular economy of plastics in tourism
- Be trained in the formulation of a strategic plan that is aligned with the SDGs
- Be able to make actionable recommendations which are ambitious and innovative but at the same time realistic to trigger real impact
